About the position

EFFECT Photonics is looking for an experienced – NPI Program Manager

We are seeking an experienced NPI Program Manager; this is a key role within our Operations group where you will be required to oversee material planning, forecasting, and readiness to support technology development, new product launches, and supply chain qualification. You'll collaborate closely with Engineering, Operations, Finance, Sales, and Supplier/Manufacturing Partners to ensure seamless coordination.

Role responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Execution: Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of operations projects within scope, budget, and timeline constraints.
    • Manage projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes, and coordinate release schedules.
  • Resource Management: Effectively allocate and manage resources including personnel and materials to ensure project success.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions and ensure on-time delivery.
    • Support engineering and operations teams with risk management by balancing testing milestones vs critical kickoff dates.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, milestones, and key deliverables.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, production, quality assurance, and supply chain to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize manufacturing/operations processes, reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and reduce waste.
    • Engage Engineering team to analyze design and identify product improvements for enhanced volume manufacturability and reduced cost.
    • Work closely with Engineering on multiple or alternate source qualifications.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage project budgets, tracking expenses and ensuring cost-effective solutions.
    • Lead materials budget planning and spend management in partnership with Finance and Engineering.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, schedules, budgets, and reports.
    • Communicate overall engagement and project status and risk clearly to internal management, calling out key issues and presenting options for resolution to the cross-functional teams.

Required / Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, engineering or related fields and 5-10 years of program management experience
  • >5 years of working with engineering teams and experience on new product design and introduction
  • Semiconductor market experience a strong plus
  • Good communicator and self-starter
  • Strong reporting and analytical abilities, detail oriented
  • Experienced with Product Life Cycle processes and Product Data Management tools.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel); advanced Excel skills are necessary.
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, competing priorities at a time.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with internal and external customers.
  • Travel in this role: 10%.
